As far as this study is concerned, are atheists any different from theists? They both believe in something that is ultimately unprovable. While the agnostic basically gives up hope, and doesn't believe in anything. Maybe belief is healthier than lack of belief.

Really interesting how you say "even many religious affiliates". It goes to show how effective religion is as a survival tool. I'm an atheist, but I know someone who became an atheist and later committed suicide partly due to atheism.

I'd like to see atheists split into life-long atheists and atheists with non-atheist backgrounds. Same for other affiliations. How a person gets to where they are matters.
