The study seems to only compare young women, so not compare older women's faces to younger woman's faces. Also, how do they rate attractiveness? The argument that younger woman would tend be healthier than older women seems plausible. Some diseases also obviously diminish beauty.

Well, it is arbitrary, but ALSO genetic. It is the "sexy son" mechanism. We like beauty because it lends our offspring sex appeal.
