People may have become LESS able to defy destructive authority as in the Milgram experiment or group pressure as in the Asch experiment because improvements in living conditions & comfort have lessened the hardiness necessary to withstand the rigors associated with that stance.

Of course they are. Prussian School specifically selects for the obedient. You're already well along the obedience bell curve if you've managed to get into university.
