Recovered memory therapy is awful, but follow up comment is over generalizing and suggests bias on your part regarding psychotherapy. The study results are very concerning, but one criticism of study-clients unlikely to accurately name therapy orientation

I have posted here several recent reviews & meta-analyses showing that psychotherapy doesn't surpass placebo. Previous "success" stories were contaminated by "bad" research, eg comparison with waitlist controls ect. Also therapists never profit from experience. I could go on & on

Where we lived in 1987, in therapy, a pastor's daughter, on the basis of "recovered memories" accused her father of impregnating her and forcing her to have an abortion. This looked bad until the pastor revealed he'd had a vasectomy prior to the time of supposed impregnation.
