40 Eri (Keid) is a triple system at 16.4 ly away and supposedly the home of Star Trek's Spock 🙂. A is bright and shows a yellow, almost orange color. B is bluish and much dimmer. C is close to B and very faint. All three are dwarfs (!)

Long ago, before internet, go-to telescopes and dslr's, sketching at the eyepiece was a bit tougher than today I still believe that if I want to get up really close and personal, I have to sketch the objects that I observe and the 'invert' tool is so cool😅

NGC 2281 is a loose open and the center is marked by a perfectly shaped rhombus. A dozen stars (in an arrow shape) point to a bright yellow star just outside the cluster. It's nicknamed "Broken Heart Cluster", but I don't really see that.

NGC 1857 is a fairly rich, but small open in . In the heart, the bright orange lucida really stands out. When zooming in, a fine spray of dim stars become visible around it.

NGC 1664 is a fairly large and loose open in . The heart-shape (or stingray? or kite?) is easily recognized and stands out well to the sky background. A beautiful example of "connecting the dots"🙂

This is M78, the famos reflection nebula close to M42. The sketch shows the view through my 14 inch Dobsonian at 114 & 178x. Observing site was Sierra de Segura.

NGC 1023 in Perseus. Large oval glow, broad core containing subtle mottled details. The Arp 135 detail (companion NGC 1023A) on eastern tip could be detected using averted vision.

The final sketch of 2019; cigar shaped NGC 1023 or "Perseus Lenticular Galaxy". Very bright, especially the core. With effort, a small patch of nebulosity can be seen on one extension, this is NGC 1023A (Arp 135)
