Using general-purpose learning methods, AlphaStar reached the highest league across all StarCraft races, on a range of ladder maps. AlphaStar has pro-approved restrictions on how it perceives and interacts with the game.

I guess this depends on the computing power required to run alpha star. I have no idea if it's possible to run this on consumer hardware or not. Might be a walk in the park it might not

Fascinating and scary! Should AI be designed to be as human-like as possible in order not to be detected? This points to huge ethical issues in the future where we are not able to distinguish between the two.

They only limited it's processes because otherwise it wouldn't be fair for human players. If left to it's own devices AlphaStar would probably end games WAY faster. It's amazing how fast AIs learn

The "Publicly available paper" link tries to charge me $8.99. If I give it JavaScript privileges it shows me the paper but prevents me to download it. Can you please put a PDF on arXiv like the rest of the ML community does?
