The definition of intelligence by Legg & Hutter is correct but for evaluation purposes I prefer: intelligence is the capacity to solve never seen before tasks by decomposing them into known subtasks and dealing ad hoc with the remaining unknowns

By training a system in N tasks, we are creating a *narrow* system for those N tasks. Generality implies abstracting the knowledge and applying those abstractions in new challenges. The saying “if all you have is a hammer ..." captures the mental process to be implemented in AI
