Great stuff. I couldn't access the full research though when I clicked on link. Did you offer practical solutions with 30 students abd 1 teacher? I don't use ability groups so am genuinely interested

You need a subscription to access the full paper-you may be able to do through the
@TeachingCouncil ? If not drop me an email&I'm happy to share. No practical tips in this paper as it presents findings from a larger study within the Irish context. But happy to discuss further.

Well done Dee & team, interesting stuff. Has anyone ever followed kids in “higher/gifted” classes to assess the psychological impact of that label? I image it’s also harmful, in the long term?

Some research has also highlighted the negative impact on higher ability students who are expected to 'know' and as such feel under a lot of pressure. There is concern that we are not meeting these students' needs in Ireland but we *have* to be extremely careful how we do this.
