The Pillowcase rapist in Florida went free for decades because of a failure to collect his DNA. There are still 400 convicted sex offenders in Florida who are not in the DNA database. How many rapes and murders have occurred because of these failings?

Good summary of the supposed risks of pseudoscience in preprints. Such risks affect _all_ science communication, particularly in rapidly moving fields. The solution lies in changing how we review and report science, not making it harder to communicate.

In 1808 Napoleon issued a decree, ordering “the Jews of our states” to adopt fixed surnames. Last night I found one of the most remarkable family documents I’ve ever come across; the signed declaration of my wife’s 4xGt Grandfather, stating that he’d adopted the surname SCHWARTZ.

The answer is no but the problem is not that the genetics are not yet robust enough. Genetics will never be able to answer this question.
