They’re slowly locking new creators out of the platform. They want to become their own type of Netflix VOD service. Thats why if you want to monetize content its required that you have 4000 hours of watch time and 1000 subscribers. Then YT decides if you’re allowed to monetize.

Unless you have a super unique niche or are Industry funded then it’ll be an insane grind to get even the slightest recognition for your work from a platform like YouTube. Thats why the hurdles will keep getting higher as they slowly consolidate their business.

If the platform for random content creators slowly becomes non beneficial to their business they’ll have no issues closing it off to new creators, keeping the top tier ones and allowing Hollywood and the TV personalities in to keep them afloat. We’re seeing the early parts now.

Make more money > Spend less maintaining. Thats all they want to do, spend less time worrying about all your videos by regulating your ability to get paid for the hours and hours of work you put in to creating. You lose interest, one less person to spend their time and money on.
