Keem, thanks for your input. This was flagged this AM to me. The videos were re-reviewed, and we determined they should be age restricted, as they were not Community Guideline violations. The channel will be reinstated. All 8,000 videos will be rolled back to his channel.

Anything going to be happening to the person who manually made the decision to delete someone's channel over this? Clearly they did so after consultation with journalists who had written articles about this video. Will they be trained to avoid this in future?

Sometimes we make mistakes, which is why we have multiple escalation paths for reviewers to raise tough decisions and we give creators the right to appeal. The reviewer will be educated on this outcome and on how to avoid repeating this mistake.

This sounds like a serious lesson to be learnt, or job to fix. There is clearly underlying agendas from some of your “reviewers” and with the power they seem to wield it’s quite concerning for channels with less of a voice. Lucky this persons tweets were seen...

aswell you say that you give the creator a right to appeal, however it’s almost daily you see and hear of creators having a restriction applied to their channel for something completely unrelated to “community guidelines” and hear nothing from the accessible channels of YouTube

and with YouTube Gaming right round the corner it’s pretty worrisome that a “reviewer” needs to be educated on situations like this occurring again. That person doesn’t sound like they’re fit for the job to be fair or maybe they’re not getting the correct guidance...?

If the reviewer has various escalation paths to go through before these “tough decisions” are made, is it to difficult to ask for the creator to be contacted directly first by the “reviewer” to discuss the concerns instead of deleting their channel? Is that too much to ask?

Brother, this was almost certainly done by a YouTube employee after they were contacted by a Vice/Motherboard journalist directly. It shows there are no checks and balances in place. Just better hope people get outraged enough on your behalf once they hit the kill-switch.

Sounds like an obscene knee jerk reaction

Welcome to modern YouTube. Fucking over creators at every turn while constantly trying to juggle appeasing tech journalists, the WSJ and advertisers. Haha look Jake Paul is using unethical and potentially illegal advertising methods on children on our platform. It's a joke.

It’s not about the creators anymore, it’s totally about pleasing social political groups and pandering to a safe space environment. I wonder how quickly this will be brushed under the carpet from this moment forward.
