Hey @TeamYouTube what's the point of having the "Thumbs Down" button in the youtube comment section if youtube doesn't even display the dislike count on a certain video comments? How come the "Thumbs Up" count is only visible?

That's odd. What device are you on? Also, have you noticed this happening across devices? If you are on a browser it should ideally highlight the likes/dislikes. Let us know so that we can look into it.

That's how it has been for years, it's far from a new thing. It's on all devices

I know, but why? I've seen it like that ever since Youtube became mainstreamed. Back then, they use to display the dislike ration on comments. Now they don't. So why have the dislike button if only the likes are visible. Seems pointless.

Because likes on comments determine its ranking within the comments. So when you dislike it it goes from 3 likes to 2. Like on reddit. Video likes/dislikes are to show viewer reaction.

In all my years of clicking the dislike button on comments, I have never seen a comment's like ratio drop cause of people clicking the thumbs down button. The only time the like ratio ever goes down on a comment is when you unlike the comment you previously liked.
does nothing.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Maybe it doesnt register as quick as a like? Because as you said likes are shown. It is definitely to do with the comments ranking so there really is no point in seeing the dislikes.
