As I said in my review, Moonlight is a film for a non-black, non-gay, non-working class, chin-stroking, self-regarding, turbo smug audiencehttps://twitter.com/jessicakiang/status/833273853442928640 …

You know nothing of what Moonlight means to black gay men. It's not for you to question its relevance to us.
-
This film has just begun its journey. Many closeted gay or bisexual men won't go see it in the cinema.
-
Many working class people can't afford the cinema. But this film has a long life ahead of it and will reach those who need it.
-
This film gave me hope; it's harsh and beautiful and multifaceted. I saw parts of myself and men I've known reflected in it.
-
And though it's sad in parts it's not a tragedy. This alone was a revaluation to me. To see these black men survive to the end.
-
I've been so sick and tired of the dominant narratives of black/gay men being that of tragedy. I/we needed Moonlight so badly.

straight white man here. Moonlight is a good film, period. Camilla probably got rejected by a black guy once. Funny.
