Hi, new followers! I'm just an editor who occasionally tweets about politics when she's irritated. (I'm irritated a lot lately.) Most of the time I tweet about when to use en dashes or hyphens and the like. If that's not your bag, I promise I won't be hurt if you unfollow. 💓

(yes, could probably be are, not is, but I'm on a tablet in the AZ desert fighting a horrid allergy attack, and in my mind the commas were brackets anyway. Stet.)

The editor riding west through the New Mexico desert (not dessert), in the way back to her California office.

A middle-aged woman smiles into the camera from the passenger seat of a BMW Z4. Her dark brown hair is streaked with gray and covered in a floral print scarf, her eyes are covered by dark sunglasses, and the Sonora desert is visible in the background.

Potential clients, this is my view too. The goal is always perfection, but the goal is really "the best possible work in the most reasonable time" because it will never really be perfect. Unlike who basically is.

This is an important and real writerly/copyeditorial thing: If you don't like the way something looks—even if you absolutely know it's correct—rewrite it till you like it.

Nelson owns some pencils, and Jeanette owns some pencils = Nelson's and Jeanette's pencils Nelson and Jeanette collectively own some pencils because they're married, or socialists, or both: Nelson and Jeanette's pencils

If we have the humility to listen, we can learn. As we learn, we can also teach. And together, we could actually change the way we look at the world.

These young people see with a clarity that we have lost because we're so tangled up in and jaded by our experience and existence as adults.

For those who don't know (probably almost everyone), POPS is a youth movement to eliminate plastic pollution in our environment.

One of the most amazing things I have seen in the last few months has been our youth stepping up to solve problems we've punted on. POPS participants are currently wowing me with this right now at

Let's change the narrative to bioremediation--if we pull something out, we put it back as good or better. Reduce, reuse, recycle, regenerate.

Regenerative education teaches the new generation to use technology and nature, instead of technology or nature, through positive, encouraging conversations.

In the early 1900s, 90% of farms were family farms, and they used organic fertilizers. Today only 2% are family farms, and they mostly use chemical fertilizers.

You can grow nutritious food with chemicals, but you can't grow soil that way. To grow soil, we need to reinstate natural systems.

Small scale back yard farmers can grow their own food by mimicking the original natural systems.

Eddy: 'Regenerative' is more than 'organic' practices. We have confused the land for money, but we can do things mimicking the natural systems that existed originally.
