Met Gala: a spectacle triggering some disgust among ordinary Americans who feel restricted and diminished. Does anyone worry about all the parallels between the USA today and the Weimar Republic?

Don't worry if it isn't substantiated that 43 hospitals turned him away - what matters is the amount of rage against other people stirred up by the story. I'm not the only person who saw this & questioned it. Why are so many news editors letting this fly?

Remember what Governor Newsom wrote in his April 8, 2020 letter to Nancy Pelosi? "I am also developing a broader set of proposals that will help create a more just and equitable future for Americans in the wake of this crisis..." 2nd bite of the apple?

Moral of the story is not to take risks with edgy political strategies such as a recall unless you have a viable plan on how to win it. Otherwise, all you're doing is strengthening your opponent & giving opposing special interest groups more leverage.

Tonight: the defeat of the recall is a repudiation of Trump and the Republicans. Tomorrow night: the defeat of the recall is a mandate for new policies that will bring "a more just and equitable future." That's politics. Also, payback for $83 million in campaign donations.

2 letters respond to community criticism of Monterey High School principal & his "offensive" support of "team spirit." 1. "it is the responsibility of all in our community to support our youth" 2. "We find ourselves, once again, in contentious times..."

The harsh reality of the costs of child care. $580,000 for emergency replacement of main storm drain line of the Marina Child Development Center in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. This is just infrastructure for an existing building.

My personal opinion: school boards shouldn't approve a special Memorandum of Understanding to officially establish an internship program for students to do undefined "advocacy and communications" for any politically controversial group.

Ha, someone actually clicked the link to my cryptic tweet about this item on the South Pasadena Unified School District board agenda for tomorrow, and now it's a big controversy. People need to monitor their local government meeting agendas every week.

Monterey-Salinas Transit board unanimously approves environmental review & demolition contract for blighted Fort Ord buildings on its land. (Note Transportation Agency for Monterey County is partner in this demolition.) No opposition comments! I was only comment besides TAMC rep.

Just Spoke! I said I hoped every blighted Fort Ord building would be gone by 2025-2026, and mentioned that if the bond hadn't moved forward in 2019-2020 these deteriorating buildings would remain for yet another generation.

I'm going to speak in a few minutes at Monterey-Salinas Transit board meeting - as a private citizen - in enthusiastic support of the blight removal on its former Fort Ord parcels! Item 5.1 Finally. Base closed in 1994.

Some people in California are calling September 14 "Emboldenment Day" rather than "Election Day." Who will be 1st to declare result "a mandate?" My #1 concern: once pressure from the recall is off, it will be replaced with pressure for schools to revert back to virtual classes.

It's always discouraging to realize a local government is corrupt, and people governing it not only condone it but selfishly benefit from it, and everyone else not in power doesn't know or care. Then I remember I'm also a human, by nature inclined to the same selfish corruption.
