As a onetime author, I want no part of the publisher's lawsuit vs. . The Internet Archive's an invaluable resource for my research. I used it extensively in writing my bio of Bill W's spiritual sponsor Fr Ed Dowling SJ (amazon.com/Father-Ed-Stor). 1/3

I'm #grateful the 1st ed. of my book Thrill of the Chaste can be borrowed from (in English & Polish!). From experience, I know that discovering books via the Archive leads folks to buy ones they wouldn't have otherwise. 2/3

If folks love a book of mine, they'll almost certainly want to own it. At the least, they'll be more likely to buy another of my works.
Last, nowhere else but can you research rock history from 1000s of liner notes--including my own. 3/3

1/2 The IA is an archive. Great and separate from the fact they violated copyright here. If the principle is established that owning a physical copy allows you to give out digital copies to anyone—so long as only one is used at a time—copyright has been killed

Diversity is one of the wonderful things in this 🌍. Not all authors have the same views about IA’s conduct in copying & distributing their works w/o permission. It seems to work for you. Cool. But do you want to make this decision for all authors?
