When I was a kid the local Catholic church did "perpetual adoration" through the night as what seemed like cheap security. We'd get our the moms to pick us up from clubs at 3am after their stint

I _love_ that!!! As a middle-of-the-road Lutheran we only did vigil between Good Friday and Easter Sunday; that was pretty spooky in the rural location in the woods where we always spent our Easter hols.

The chapel (and especially stained glass windows) in the dark always seemed incredibly eerie to me. Gothic architecture doesn’t help.
