Self driving cars are a pretty good example of late stage capitalism's absurd allocation of resources. Nobody except haulage, mass transit, or taxi companies really want em and they're gonna make loads of folk unemployed but we're investing absurd cash and thought into it
Do itttt. Also, I stopped cycling because I got doored, and couldn't cope with the stress of London traffic anymore. Cannot imagine many London kids cycle compared to national average.

Full sympathies here. For all my fire and brimstone online I'd be lying if I said that being rear-ended in the middle of the day hasn't poured a little ice water on my burning desire to commute by bike every single day.

We should basically make cities inhospitable for cars and awesome for pedestrians and cyclists. I would cycle but bikes terrify me and last time i tried i trapped a nerve in my bum on a boris bike and couldn't sit right for a week

Sorry to belatedlybutt-in. Self-driving cars would make the roads safer for cyclists and pedestrians. People in control of motorised vehicles are the problem. Most people don’t need cars, despite what they think.

Hugely reduce congestion, etc., too.
