Self driving cars are a pretty good example of late stage capitalism's absurd allocation of resources. Nobody except haulage, mass transit, or taxi companies really want em and they're gonna make loads of folk unemployed but we're investing absurd cash and thought into it

I'm not super invested in it and was trolling tbh, but now I think of it, it does limit holiday options/reporting roles, compared to friends who go on road trips, hire cars to follow stories

A pal put it to me that a pool of self driving vehicles that could be commonly used is a good compromise. Plus farmers and rural folks probs need em. But get (almost all) cars out of cities imho

Yeah, absolutely, so many unnecessary vehicles on the roads. More bikes and buses, fewer 4x4s with one driver, no passengers.
