Even now, though I live in the most "remain" area bar Gibraltar, 1 in 3 of my neighbours voted to leave. Hillingdon had same % of leave voters as Newport, but London gets branded a liberal idyll, and Wales et al a bunch of closed-minded knuckle-draggers

Also interesting politically to see Wales and Sunderland singled out for a lot of heat, when all bar one of the 10 highest "leave areas" and in the East Mids/East of Englandpic.twitter.com/lYoTRpAgUb

40% of London, where every single person is a latte-quaffing effete ponce who employs immigrants as nannies, voted leave

If it's the same MP as was when I worked in Parliament in 2006, no surprises there

It was more aimed at the media than individuals! And it's just a personalbugbear, but easy to see why it's done for ease/shorthand

Yeah, but not in Barking, Havering, Bexley, Sutton. We can google, I obviously have since I used exact percentages, so not sure why you're tweeting us
-
Yes. I live in Barking - deprived area with lots of immigrants (including many who didn't vote, large voice unheard). 40% of us who did vote voted remain. To be labelled "a leave area" is simplistic and frankly hurtful.

Agreed, sadly this simplistic thinking runs through British politics though from FPTP all the way to the oppositional design of the HoC.

Completely agree with this. I find the comments/jokes about London + remain areas etc forming new countries and leaving the proles to their fate really tiresome. I live in a post industrial northern town where 45% of us voted remain.
-
Yes, that "let London be independent!" schtick was sickening. Lot of the impetus for voting leave was how London sucks in wealth, impoverishing post-industrial areas that haven't recovered from 2008 while London booms
