Try some Headspace or similar mindfulness routine that you learn in advance in your bed/safe place then do it in the dentist's chair?

I find it helpful if dentist talks you through what he/she is doing. And silence, no music. Also focus on your whole body breathing.

& tell dentist if in pain/feeling unwell in any way. For me it's fear of suffering in silence that's daunting. Be clear about your needs
