At first I thought “Wow, what a great idea!” when it was phased in but now wonder what the point of me bothering even applying was. Struggled to help an older woman on bus with shopping trolley just now, 10 blokes pushed in front, sprawled across disabled seats in the meantime.

“Have you tried asking?” Yes. “Have you tried the card?” Yes. “Have you tried the pregnancy badge instead?” Yes, marginally more success, equal no of “you don’t look pregnant” accusatory comments

Worst recently was woman on walking frame move so couple making huge fuss about not being able to place purchases in wheelchair/buggy space. Woman then slouched stood across entire remaining space leaving woman on frame with nowhere til three of us told her to couple to wise up.

Also twice had the “well if you were disabled you would have a Freedom Pass, how do I know that badge is yours?” Loads of disabilities don’t qualify for the FP, but guess what fucko.pic.twitter.com/1yZ96O76Cf

Anyway, you can apply for the card here (some friends have had better luck, clearly “look” disabled in their limited minds) https://tfl.gov.uk/transport-accessibility/please-offer-me-a-seat …

Freedom passes less clearcut and will differ borough to borough (my neurologist just offered unbidden to write up and post me a letter during an appointment), but GPs should be able to vouch for you. Failing that £20 on the disabled railcard long after you’re 30, and you can load it on your Oyster to save money https://www.disabledpersons-railcard.co.uk/are-you-eligible/ …pic.twitter.com/zm24xN77oH

I *absolutely* cannot fathom anyone not getting up if you ask. It’s one thing to ‘not notice’ but that’s next level.

The responses are either deliberately pretending they can’t see you, or the “you don’t *look* disabled” comment. How do you think multiple tumours in someone’s spinal cord look outwardly, because you look a manspreading prick in a FILA top not an MRI machine, sorry I mistook you.

Even when 9 months pregnant and struggling to walk, only women ever offered me a seat.

Yep, noticed that all the time, heavily pregnant women board, near exclusively women jumping up.
