Lambeth asking everyone over 11 to get a PCR test asap, with few testing sites, very limited open hours only in the working day, only four dispensing home PCR tests and big chunks of the borough far from the sites mean very few will actually manage it.https://beta.lambeth.gov.uk/enhanced-coronavirus-covid-19-testing-lambeth/how-get-test …

If you’ve got mobility issues, can’t get out of work for those shorts time periods, or don’t live near one dispensing home PCR tests, chances are you’ll either just not, or you’ll use public transport. Doesn’t seem remotely thought through.

There’s also no effort made to point out the surge testing used complete different tests the government sends you to use twice weekly are totally different and should be used in addition, not in lieu, since they’re tracking the variants. Only seen the BBC point that out.

Just thinking about that though - all the LFTs have to be followed up with a PCR now if they're positive, which could be sequenced, so surely it doesn't matter which kind you take if you get a negative?

Lateral flow tests also less reliable with false results/patient error, but the bigger thing is time, an unnecessary delay when they want to find and quarantine positives as fast as possible, so asymptomatic people who think they’re the same spread it while they wait for delivery
