This is such a weird trend to see pop up constantly and none of my American friends living here have really managed to explain why they do it? I really haven’t seen it here, just for eg people saying “jealous but happy for you!” when I got mine earlier than them.

generally, people in UK and US have different perspectives when it comes to jumping the queue. In the UK, it's rude to cut. In the US, you're a sucker if you don't cut. So we all just assume everyone else is cheating when they get the things we want.

I guess as well, you can’t “cut” here: there are very clear guidelines on nationwide prioritisation, and the NHS just text you when it’s your turn and you book online. And you can’t “scam” your doctor and fame your age, or having epilepsy or a heart transplant etc.
