Yes, of course my schools in south Wales were the only ones that did this, and everyone replying is hallucinating https://twitter.com/PropCazhPM/status/1370716778653958146 …
Parent / Guardian was used when I was at primary school in 1988
It was the same even in the 70s.
yes, but T*by Y**ng doesn't agree
Man can’t even get into university without his dad phoning up, stuff him.
Yeah I lived with my grandparents and was always appreciative of that wording
Me too, glad I wasn't the only one.
Absolutely, our youngest three siblings were under a special guardianship agreement (due to loss of parents) & the universal use of the term 'Guardian' meant a lot - they/we weren't constantly othered. This language is not new & is important.
Quite. It was bad enough for mine when the class made Father’s Day cards - once we’d left they never saw him again (his choice) - when asked they (7,5,&4) said I’d killed him and he was buried under the flags at the bottom of the garden. People didn’t ask twice.
Parent/guardian was used by my teeny tiny island primary school in the early 90s. Which was handy as it absolutely applied to my situation.
