So I have ~4 days to go from being someone who you can't get blood out of to someone you can get blood out of. Other than mega-hydration (1l wasn't enough, going for 2l) and having eaten... is there anything else I can do to make my veins accssible & not shy collapsibles?

There is only mega hydration and asking if they can use a butterfly needle (source: my terrible veins and the NHS’s constant lust for my blood)

Thank you, I will ask for the butterfly next time. I never used to get performance anxiety but the last 10 years I've been getting worse and worse at bleeding.

Also, had nurses before say it’s really much more down to their skill than anything biologically about you. Some just aren’t as good at bloods, so hopefully you get a good one.

yeah, the nurse said something similar. I try to push for a specific phlebotomist but she's not always available and they just don't listen, it's like you're being over dramatic.

Definitely had that attitude before, whereas the most chill are always the best phlemotomists. Last one told me off for apologising so much, looked at my arm, agreed to try a butterfly and got it first time.
