10yrs in retail optics
Majority NHS customers. I see and recognise your pain :/
The cost of eyecare is absolutely a shoddy stitch-up. Not only is the GOS system made wonky and underfunded (NHS in general) but Luxottica et al gouge for profit. And base in taxhavens too.

The story of how eye and dental care got handily shifted out of the NHS remit really is a scandal. A free eye test and £14.60 off? Wow, they’re practically free! Good thing I can easily cope without them and don’t break then them with epileptic seizures semi-regularly.

In case you'd like some unsolicited info in case you don't know this already: specs*vers have these discretionary black 50% off vouchers they give out if you're struggling to pay. Idk if it's just the opthalmologists who can give them out.

Ooh, I might ask next time: smashed two pairs last year thanks to seizures so both struggled to cope exclusively with contacts every waking minute, and with the cost. Have an appointment with my epilepsy nurse in a few weeks too so will ask if there’s any help they can offer too.

These people don't know the fear of somebody moving my glasses while I'm having a shower.
Kiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa

My shortsightedness + astigmatism is nowhere near as severe as yours and even the cost of my lenses is insane imo. Can’t imagine how much yours must be

I majorly miss these which managed to last about eight months before I had a seizure and smashed them
