I don't think a lot of remainers would have accepted it, however it was never on offer. Of course, if remainers grouped around the idea of a soft Brexit instead of a second referendum, then maybe the government could have been pressured into making it an option.

No chance. The minute May took remaining off the table, by default it became Brexit at any cost, consequence or circumstance. And by the same default dismissed the existence of almost half the electorate. If you don't exist, you don't have an opinion & certainly no influence.

Just a reminder that: - over 65% of Labour constituencies voted Leave - of the 45 target seats in England & Wales that Labour needs to win an election, 35 voted Leave - 16 of Labour’s 20 most vulnerable seats voted Leave Still, the middle-class London liberals knew best.

I accept some of this but i'm dismayed that anyone would blame remainers who never wanted to leave in the 1st place AND would likely have conceded in the end if Brexit was done in good faith, citizens rights protected, 0 "red lines", CU/SM, but we were accused of treason for that

Wrong I, & I suspect many Remainers wouldn't accept 16m being totally sidelined, told to shut up & instructed to meekly accept whatever fate was chosen for them. Democracy without dissent is a Dictatorship. If that begat "hard Remainers", Leavers only have themselves to blame.

I genuinely believe most of those recruited to this effort were victims, identified as easy pickings, low hanging fruit, no different to the working class Leavers they were encouraged to scorn, by people who new well the gig was up and whose principle interest was damaging Labour
