Did you grow up with the heating on over night?

My flat's well insulated, and at the top so it's pretty warm even in January, but remember waking up as a kid and absolutely dreading getting out of bed because we knew it would be absolutely freezing, and have never forgotten it.

The minute between pyjamas and clothes - hell. Your feet, always freezing, which was great because me, my ma, and 2/6 sisters had Raynaud's.

I remember ice on the inside of the windows growing up in Glasgow in the 70s and early 80s.

Definitely remember similar feeling - net curtains frozen to the inside of the window, dressing up in multiple layers just to go to bed.

Even the loo seat could freeze your bum. I remember pressing uniform up against the grill of the gas fire to warm clothes in the morning

I lived in a caravan when I was a teenager, was freezing in the winter and so hot in the summer that a candle I had melted out of shape. It was pretty awful, and I wouldn't want my children to have to live like that. We should all want better than we had for the next generation.

Urgh, that's horrible, you poor thing. The only times we went on holiday, we borrow my grandad's caravan and slept in the awning, and that was grim and freezing so can only imagine what it was like to live in constantly.

Reminds me of the book Brooklyn when she wakes up in her bedroom and there’s no condensation from her breath. Unlike in Ireland. I never quite got over it being hot inside all the time in winter when I lived in NYC
