Don’t understand it. Was in a shared bay once (usually get own room cos I’m always youngest in neuro wards cos it’s 80% strokes) and the pensioners were lonely/miserable, & woman my age had first ever seizures & had a paranoid screaming breakdown cos her husband couldn’t see her.

Did that never change in England? Thank god, it changed in Northern Ireland in July, days before my son was born.

Yes, and to be told your baby has no heartbeat. That happened to me in lockdown. I had to receive the news without my partner, then go and tell him myself.

I am so, so sorry you had to go through this

It doesn’t make a lot of sense either to me. You’d think that if the partner has Covid-19, there’s a good chance that the mother already has it anyway (and so would infect the staff)? Although, I’m happy to be corrected if I’m missing something.

Exactly! And staff have masks & visors. One of my consultants just came to say hello when I was in, not medically necessary, was just curious about symptoms. So unnecessary visits are happening.

Urgh, I’m so sorry. Even my single pals had friends in the room before, I just cannot imagine knowing your partner’s next door, but can’t comfort you or see their baby born? The stress and fear you felt myst have been incredible.
