Never tell them I have schwannomatosis since not even doctors know what that is bar the consultants in the specialist neurofibromatosis centre in Guy’s even though I was buying it for back pain caused by it. AND I NEVER WILL.

Every doctor in A&E has made me spell it when they ask why I’m on pregabalin, which was great when I’d had a massive seizure and had transient aphasia causing major slurring and no clue where the hell I was.

Special permission!? Wild. I have to sign a special box on a separate prescription for pregabalin and clobazam (latter for epilepsy) but the GP was able to just prescribe the highest dose, and the neurologist seemed very relaxed prescribing clobazam

Ohhhh that makes sense - I was only diagnosed after other family members meant they checked for the gene, found I had it & MRIed me & found spinal tumours: I just thought my back pain was because I wasn’t exercising enough, so went running every day which made it ten times worse.

...so I was only diagnosed and started on it when I was 23, ditto the benzos.
