Alas the morphine’s worn off and it’s less fun. Pain is the worst I’ve ever felt, worse than getting hit by a car, and when I broke my leg. Never break your ribs, friends, be careful.

Oh man, I’m afraid a have so, so little good advice or good news. Who the hell’s idea was it to make BONES which MOVE as a result of BREATHING. Try not to sneeze is all I can say. Sympathy and solidarity.
-
I found meds really did help though. Paracodol did me a lot of good at times that having a cold coincided with damaged ribs. (I’ve had it twice in a year, foolishly.)

Nor laugh. Do you have a tight bandage, Dawn?
-
Nope, the NHS advise against it.

My husband did. He survived by drinking whisky. 0% do not recommend.

My late mum had bruised ribs after being mugged and dragged along the ground while waiting for a bus, she was in agony for days, I don't recall anything helping TBH.

My husband broke a couple of ribs. Probably not helpful but he found he couldn’t lie down to sleep so propped himself on recliner chair. Also, pain meds regularly. Sorry.
-
This but he was less sensible than your husband seems to be...

I have, it was awful. You'll learn not to sneeze and cough. Don't sleep on your side, and use lots of pillows to kinda keep you still as you sleep.
-
Haven’t sneezed yet and am terrified. Everytime I cough I somehow compress it after one tiny, pathetic cough. Going to pack myself in, thanks - hopefully that’ll stop me rolling onto the bad side.
