IIRC it was an extra 10% on top of the cost but then you could have a like for like replacement for 50% in the next two years. If you didn’t claim you could roll the money on to your next purchase.

Was just looking at that - their highest thinning option is double what Specsavers charge so think buying two pairs with the latter’s BOGOF deal was actually the cheaper option

I think accidental damage/personal possessions cover on some home insurance would, but may cost too much to make sense. I found Asda opticians cheapest for thinned, strong prescriptions (£120 to glaze two pairs of glasses). They will do v high prescriptions, but not all

I went through at least that in the first few months of having a toddler, Glasses Direct do the job for me now for a lot less cash. My prescription isn’t heavy though, just a bit of astigmatism- ymmv!
