About 80% of my texts from the NHS so far are moving appointments, without a single one keeping to the original date, and wonder how they manage to make sure people with access problems get the messages.

How do you get them to text you?? They only send me letters and sometimes they don’t turn up (a neighbour has a confusingly similar address to us so I guess it’s that) but it’s literally lost me places on waiting lists

Good question, I think different trusts do different things - which trust are you with? But they also sent me this which would solve your problem if you can get them to text youpic.twitter.com/wACg9RbwL9

Might be an NHS Scotland thing! Or lack of thing. My dentist, vets and opticians all text me appointment reminders and it’s a godsend, so hopefully it’s on the cards even if it doesn’t exist yet.

I also just get letters for my many appointment changes and I hate it so much.

Urgh, had no idea it was so common! Guys’ and St Thomas’ use this: https://www.drdoctor.co.uk/service-provider … Might be worth emailing their patient feedback people asking them to consider it

Today I got a letter from the dental hospital informing me of my appointment, which was yesterday. It was short notice (snuck in on a cancellation!) so must just be automated but just feels like a waste of paper!

And also people’s time! If you don’t use text (and my texts are automated) and you’re fitting people in on a cancellation, *ring them* rather than leave the dentist waiting around
