All these older journalists posting their profound “how I found out about 9/11” takes. I got to my nan’s after school, and she pointed at the TV and said “Look at that? Two in one day. Careless,” clearly thinking all American air traffic controllers were drunks.

I've seen a couple of people who've said their teachers wheeled TVs into their classrooms so they could all watch it unfold in real time, which is an interesting response to say the least.

We were going into our Modern Studies class and found two teachers trying to get image on the classroom TV on a portable aerial (they were meant to be for watching videos only). Then spent half the class trying to watch the rather fuzzy footage.

With the poor image we thought it had been a small prop plane that had crashed by accident until the second plane hit. When the teachers switched off the TV one of my class mates said "We need to keep watching, we might be watching the start of WW3."
