All these older journalists posting their profound “how I found out about 9/11” takes. I got to my nan’s after school, and she pointed at the TV and said “Look at that? Two in one day. Careless,” clearly thinking all American air traffic controllers were drunks.

I've seen a couple of people who've said their teachers wheeled TVs into their classrooms so they could all watch it unfold in real time, which is an interesting response to say the least.

The memory that stands out the most is a girl at school the next day who was absolutely convinced that "they're going to get the Wellgate next" (run down 1970s-era local shopping centre, although it still had a Woolies then).

We had a similarly panicked girl in my class, and this nihilist teacher who just said “please - they don’t care about *Cardiff*. They don’t know *you* exist.”
