I used to help homeless people get sectioned sometimes in the winter because it gave them a place to stay for a couple of nights as the were evaluated when the shelters were full

When I used to work in a 24hr garage while at university, homeless people used to come in and ostentatiously shoplift, to get a bed for the night in the jail. When I took pity on them and let it slide, they would (occasionally angrily) explain to me the arrangement.
