Agreed. And I have the impression that some public seating has been reduced as an anti-Covid measure (hopefully temporarily).

Yep - was bad beforehand, with people building homeless-hostile public space, now an added factor worsening things.

Note how many new riverside developments either have no benches, or have removed them and planted little hedges to prevent peasants from enjoying the view in rest I also sat by a canal-side development where sprinklers went off at night , which meant you couldn't sit there....

Totally agree. I’ve been struggling a lot with my sciatica and every outing I plan around available resting places.

Also have sciatica thanks to tumours in my spinal cord, and outdoor space is not designed for the fact you may suddenly need to rest: I take specific longer routes around London because I know there are seats in some spaces.
