As we all know, it's very possible to have gone to a state school and to have done quite well out of it. It doesn't need to come out every results day, especially not today

Also, having been to a state school does not in fact designate that one grew up on the streets, it's something nearly all of us did including most middle class people

Found after I started at the Guardian, the most vocal I-went-to-state-schoolers either went to grammars or state schools that were private via postcode.

When at Oxford I always reckoned I could spot someone from a grammar school because they said they went to a state school. People who went to a comp tended to say just that.
