Especially because most of those people didn't start off as hardline transphobes - rather, they aired half-thought-out opinions on here and then chose to double down in the face of criticism

One reason why I kept saying they weren't awful people was because I sensed some of them feeling backed into a corner and wanted to offer a way back. They weren't prepared to take it, though, so I cut my losses, and wish I hadn't been so forgiving in hindsight
