This sort of attitude carries over into physical health too: “but you don’t look ill!” or dismissing people’s illness if they force themselves to work/meet obligations. Just awful from a teacher, and irresponsible to print.

Absolutely horrifying stuff! This is one of the reasons why i carry ASD dx letter with me when I travel - i’m terrified that people will look at me and refuse to believe that I should be allowed extra time to go through security to prevent meltdown etc.

It’s horrendous. The vast, vast majority of my friends with MH problems are “outwardly stable”, and why on earth would you divulge your problems to someone with attitudes this archaic and stigmatising?
