So I can go to the pub, but can’t see my epilepsy consultant in person, or have the ENT specialist examine my ears to find out what’s caused seven months of hearing loss. Great stuff.
Have exactly the same problem: had a really bad perforation in November when I had the worst ear infection of my life, loads of gunk flooded out of it, I’m still using subtitles and getting tinnitus now, and the level of hearing in that ear is up and down.

Wasn’t helped by a really rude & bad tempered locum who first looked at it accusing me of doing it myself with a cotton bud (?!) claiming it wasn’t an infection. Only got antibiotics when the drum healed then perforated again on a different part when the fluid built up instantly.

On lighter note, I once thought it was rude to check for nits before examining child’s ears with otoscope. Nits aren’t class conscious; most parents offended if attention drawn to wee crawling beasties & white eggs in their children’s hair.

Tinnitus pulsatile! Looked it up, and that’s what I was trying to explain to the doctor - thanks, was struggling to articulate what was a really weird and irritating symptom.
