[Few months time] This new policy that specifically singles out the poor looks a lot like austerity, prime minister. “No, it’s just ‘common sense’.”pic.twitter.com/994MJuO9Cw
Imagine being lectured about health by a man who shook hands w coronavirus patients, caught it, ignored his own advice about staying home etc, & still looks very unwell.
They'll almost certainly try to spin lower food standards from a US deal as increased choice / lower prices... but forcing people in poverty to buy a new low 'extra-shit' tier of food is abhorrent
It doesn't even work on the terms he thinks it does. Even for extremely privileged people, the problem isn't BOGOF deals on mars bars, it's always something else, and it's often insidious diet culture that's fucked you from childhood and is now endorsed by the government ffs
People do buy the wrong stuff. It’s cheaper.
I agree with everything you say except that doctors in some parts of the UK ARE actually crying out for bariatric surgery. Here in NI it's not available on the NHS so we're told to basically find £11k & go private or shut up & die already. It's the one policy of his I'd welcome.
