Spell checker works for me on keyboard Or try this on paper/ white board: Copy the word you want to spell at top, using cursive script Copy out word underneath naming each letter as you write it Repeat Repeat Leave next line blank Repeat down column Turn over, write word

There is a heuristic for doubled consonants in UK English - they're to separate vowels for clarity. eg hater vs hatter - you double the 't' to stop the a_e pronunciation. Doubled vowels are because we have too few letters for the vowel sounds so we mix them up.
