Hee. I went from a school where we lived on council estates & sarcastically joked about wanting a pony from Santa to a school (scholarship) where they actually had ponies and were members of Junior Young Farmers. Class markers? Oh I have stories.

We didn’t have a landline until 1999! My German exchange visited in 1995. I think he thought he’d come to the 3rd world. His Mum was a scientist and his Dad a company director. My Mum worked in a cob shop! No idea why they matched us. My visit to m/c Germany was mint tho.

I remember as a kid being totally bemused by Blue Peter telling me how to care for my pony. I didn’t realise children actually had their own pony. Nearest we got was a ride on a Donkey at Blackpool
