Does everyone doing a difficult job that we value have to be called highly skilled? It seems like a bit of a trap, somehow, like insisting everyone must love their jobs.

Yes. The division of jobs into high and low skilled isnt grounded in reality, but is a rhetorical trick designed to suppress and belittle people. It's class warfare.

There are good and less good carers. The best who looked after my mum for 4 years was the best human I know. Highly skilled, careful, observant, respectful. Never treated as an equal in the NHS.

Do I not? My ex wife was a carer for years. My daughter is a carer right now. Dont tell me I dont know what they do. And dont assume I dont value what they do. But its not a highly skilled job. Thats just a fact.
