This is complete idiocy: IFS suggest raising peak public travel transport costs even further when lockdown is eased, and scrapping the congestion charge, to limit spread of the diseasehttps://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/may/04/cost-of-public-transport-should-be-raised-as-lockdown-ends-ifs …

Totally dumb - for past 2.5 years I've been highlighting the fact that the modern ticket machines on buses (ALL buses in Scotland thanks to
@MathesonMichael &@transcotland) & other available data links, we can track the number of passengers on each bus at all times, & enable >>1 reply 3 retweets 6 likes -

prospective passengers to use a phone app to check that there are available seats, & the driver to see a manifest for the number of passengers to allow on board at each stop.
@AnnieBtransport would also appreciate the certainty that wheelchair users/blind people would be expected1 reply 2 retweets 3 likes -

Of course no one seems to be noticing that
@DVSAgovuk should be engaged to re-certify ALL UK service buses for the permitted number of Seated Passengers - as the law requires to be displayed on every bus, standing passengers - presumably cancelled?1 reply 1 retweet 3 likes -

Have regularly had to travel at peak hours with a disabled badge, and people who are able-bodied and don’t use PT much ask “can’t you just ask people to give up a seat?” Not when you have to wait three tubes to even cram on two metres from a priority seat.

Just a complete failure to think of the real world aspects of transport. Especially when there are such limited wheelchair/pushchair spaces on buses let alone tubes.
