Maintain the “Londoners don’t thank drivers because they’re horrible” argument is nonsense, it’s just that people can’t depart from the front so have to yell, but fewer passengers make it less embarrassing, and people do appreciate the risks drivers are taking.

I've always done this except when the bus is crowded & my 'thank you' would be lost. I'm really surprised more don't do this. I even say 'thank you' when touching in my Oyster Card.
