This is really important. Really struggled in hospital hearing doctors muffled with masks and realising how much I rely on lipreading.https://twitter.com/KatyaTaylor/status/1252316658540085256 …

My husband pointed out to me the other day that if wearing face masks out and about becomes compulsory I’m screwed.

Hoping my hearing loss is temporary (started with a brutal ear infection that burst my ear drum twice), but still waiting for my audiology appt six months on, and yes - masks will be a nightmare, I struggle with the briefings without live subtitles.

I think I should probably persevere with my hearing aids but I’m content in a world that isn’t loud, as long as I can see faces. Fingers crossed your hearing comes right. There are advantages though, I am never woken in the night by noises!

Same! Mine’s mild, can manage fine if people face me - though have one friend who covers his mouth with his hand, and another who talks quietly while not facing you - but struggle with phones, so discovering Zoom in lockdown has been a lifesaver for work.
