Huh but why shouldn’t they? People would have said the same thing about likes of BuzzFeed and HuffPo a few years ago. And let’s face it, some of the traditional lobby questions have left a lot to be desired...

Given Krishnan’s point, it’s not random: and that also feeds into the fact that the questions from those picked have often been subparhttps://twitter.com/krishgm/status/1248729852481585152?s=21 …

No 10 decide who gets to ask the questions as they see fit. BBC and ITV seem to get them every day. We get one sometimes - usually from @vsmacdonald or @GaryGibbonBlog

Yep that’s partly why I think it’s a good thing if non-traditional newsrooms (esp with huge, young audiences legacy press doesn’t reach) get to ask questions as well as the usual lobby pack. Shouldn’t just be BBC and ITV etc. Haven’t heard the LadBible q tho, was it good?

The question was fine, the problem is - as I said - the decision who to choose isn’t random (and I think should be) or fair to certain outlets, which is particularly important when the briefings are asked remotely and will be for the forseeable.

They’re reaching far more people than the majority of print outlets who regularly get questions, which is a compelling argument to give them one. His question was good, which is unsurprising really considering he used to be an MEN journalist.

Why should it be random? LadBible has a far bigger following than many of the ‘established’ news institutions. Hard to see why time should be wasted on dying papers like the Guardian who are probably more interested in points scoring against the Govt.
